On the Welcome
On behalf of myself and my many personalities, I’d like to welcome you to my blog. Here, you’ll find my many ramblings on writing, life, becoming a parent, and anything else that crosses my mind. I’d also like to highlight artists, be they visual or written, as well as work on the little gems that sprout within my moments of boredom, such as getting ideas from readers and creating a couple paragraphs of words to give those ideas life. A twisted, unexpected life, but life nevertheless. Of course, that will have to wait until I have readers!
Here’s where I throw in a little reader-beware. The ideas I express in my blog are mine and shall not be considered the rulebook on writing in any way, shape, or form. At least, not until they’ve made a movie of my books! The processes I will post are things that worked, or didn’t work, for me. I want to post them because there are a lot of places that have hard and fast rules about writing that must be adhered to at all costs, lest you become a lesser creature and fade into the shadows. While they can be good suggestions, great suggestions, and ideas of awesome epicness, they are not the writer’s bible. Oftentimes life gets in the way of those unbendable rules, which make us feel like failures, which in turn can make one give up.
I’ll have a post on that later. The intention of that paragraph was simply to say that what works for me might not work for you. And that’s ok.
As with most everywhere I frequent, I invite comments and opinions but I do request that they remain civil. There are ways to have an argument or disagreement with someone without pointing the finger and telling them they are bound for hell. Explain your POV if you’d like, or simply shake your head and move on. I have strong opinions on things, but am not beyond hope of reasoning.
If you know any authors/artists that would like to participate in a blog exchange, as in, I write something for their blog and they write something for mine, please feel free to forward their information. I’ve heard of blog tours, but am hesitant to join one. A blog a day for an undetermined amount of time sounds exhausting, and I already have a creature sucking the energy out of me without outside help.
A little about my writing? I will be publishing my first novel in my trilogy by the end of August, so stay tuned on dates and cover reveals and all those fun, almost there things. This is where I get to pat myself on the back for a job done, and hope that you find it as enjoyable to read as it was to write.
Yeah, that’s what I’m going with. Enjoyable to write.
Honestly, there’s little about the writing process that I dislike and nothing that I don’t look forward to doing again in the future. Except perhaps that first ever rough draft. I’m glad I’m beyond that point. Man that’s painful to re-read! I fully admit to being one of those people who likes to get something done right the first time, and writing isn’t a part of that beast unless you are extremely gifted. Yet I still enjoyed it. Funny thing eh?
So if you have a hankering for warrior fairies with a bit of a dark twist to them hold on to your butts, because I have what you need! Even if you didn’t know you needed it!
So get out there and do what you love, make time for yourself in this busy thing called life, and I hope you enjoy what I post!
